Last week in our psychology lecture, we learnt that intelligence is subjective, it cannot be measured. What then is intelligence? It's the capacity to learn from experience and adapt successfully to one's environment. It is also an ability that can be observed or seen, a way of thinking. Just by looking at scores from examinations, we cannot fully measure the degree of intelligence in a person.
Here are afew categories of intelligence:
1. Linguistic Intelligence - having an ear for words, ability to express thoughts clearly on paper.
2. Musical Intelligence - good ear for rhythm, ability to play a musical instrument well.
3. Kinesthetic Intelligence - good at physical activities, in sports.
4. Visual Intelligence - ability to see things well in picture, visual form, like architects.
5. Interpersonal Intelligence - good communication and social skills.
6. Intrapersonal Intelligence - can reflect and know what they want to do in life.
7. Naturalist Intelligence - good knowledge of plants, the outdoors, nature lovers
8. Logical Intelligence - inclination towards maths, facts and figures
9. Existentialist Intelligence - philosophers, theorist
I like what our instructor said. Everyone of us has one or more forms of intelligence. Take them as your strength. Not the marks you get on paper. We first see the abilities of someone and we believe in them. Hmm.. what intelligence do I have?..
My dreams will blossom...
